Kidney Cancer
In 2022, the global incidence of kidney cancer was estimated to be over 430,0001 and this is expected to reach approximately 475,0002 by 2030.
Our kidney cancer program targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CA9), a scientifically validated target in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), which is the most prevalent and one of the most aggressive forms of kidney cancer. CA9 is a cell surface protein that is highly expressed in ccRCC and in many other solid tumors including bladder cancer.
Detection of renal masses is increasing due to widespread use of computed tomography (CT) scans. Many of these masses are small or indeterminant and are challenging to diagnose, as current imaging techniques, including CT, ultrasound and MRI cannot reliably distinguish non-cancerous masses from kidney cancer / ccRCC. This can lead to invasive biopsy or partial nephrectomy (kidney removal) to confirm the diagnosis. These procedures can lead to complications.

TLX250 (177Lu-DOTA-girentuximab)
Telix’s investigational rADC therapy for the treatment of advanced or metastatic kidney cancer. This is currently being evaluated in ccRCC in combination with immunotherapy (Phase 2 STARLITE-1 and -2 trials) and in a Phase 1 study in combination with a Merck KGaA DNA-Damage Repair Inhibitor (DDRi) candidate (STARSTRUCK).

TLX250-CDx (89Zr-DFO-girentuximab, Zircaix®)
Telix’s investigational imaging agent for kidney cancer, TLX250-CDx, was investigated in the pivotal Phase 3 ZIRCON study. The trial demonstrated the ability of TLX250-CDx to reliably detect ccRCC and provide an accurate, non-invasive method for diagnosing ccRCC.
